I called about a concern I had about dogs in my neighborhood on a Sunday evening, and spoke with a kind woman on the phone who said someone would be there to check it out soon. Assuming this would be like every other experience I had with police, I expected no one to come out for HOURS or at all. But there was a gentleman in uniform who showed up with in 30 minutes! I am very excited to say I had a great experience with a police department...the one I grew up around. Thanks guys and gals for taking your job seriously and keeping our neighborhoods (ANIMALS INCLUDED) safe.
My little dog escaped from my back yard yesterday. It was very cold last night and I didn't get much sleep worrying about her. I got to the police station right when they opened at 8:00 this morning. The lady at the reception window was very kind, patient and efficient, considering I was so distraught and not thinking very straight. She contacted the Animal Control Officer, Mr. Riggs. He came right away and showed me photos of all the dogs he had, one of which was my little one. He immediately took me to see her in person, before I completed the paperwork to get her back. He truly cares about the animals they have there. He plays with them and makes sure they are well fed, in a clean environment and have a blanket. Did you know this is a no-kill shelter? Mr. Riggs and the others really try hard to find the owners and when they've exhausted all efforts, they give the animals to foster organizations, so they can be adopted. I can't thank them enough for taking good care of my little girl until I could get her back. I'm so grateful Madison has such a wonderful police force working for us. Please get your animal chipped and, if you find it missing, please contact the Madison police so you can be reunited as soon as possible.
Not sure why Madison Police are getting the flack for something that a Huntsville police officer did (I used to live in the neighborhood where Mr. Patel was attacked, it was in south Huntsville), but I've never had a problem with Madison police. They've always responded with appropriate speed to my silly calls, and always manage to catch the next up and coming teen gang from the local high school when they start trolling through my neighborhood looking for an easy score.
Thank YOU!
A BIG Thanks to Madison Lt. Police Officer Damian Williams. Thanks for your guidance.
Most policemen have only a high school education yet we allow these power hungry ex-military, quick to use the gun escalate situations instead of diffusing them. If I were a cop, the last thing I'd want to do is use my gun. I'm with NWA on this one.
